The Center for Student Legal Services (CSLS) seeks to fill a vacancy on the Board of Directors and is encouraging students to apply no later than Sept. 9. The vacancy is for one at-large director position for a two-year term.

The center is a non-profit law firm dedicated to providing legal advice and representation to Ohio University students. The board is entirely composed of Ohio University students and governs the Center for Student Legal Services, providing an experiential learning opportunity in nonprofit management and law.

“Students benefit greatly from this experiential learning opportunity. Not only do they develop non-profit management experience, they also gain a behind the scenes look at how a law firm runs,” said Larry Hayman Esq., advisor to the CSLS Board of Directors. “Many of the students who serve on the board want to become attorneys, and this experience benefits them when they launch their post-law school legal careers. Even if students aren’t interested in becoming attorneys, they gain leadership, time management, community engagement, and collaboration skills that are critical no matter the field they pursue after graduation.”

“Working on the board of directors has given me a more hands-on perspective on the general operations of a firm and reaffirmed my interest in studying law,” said Zach Donaldson, a sophomore studying political science and the board’s executive vice chairperson.

The application for the director’s position can be found on the Center for Student Legal Services website. For more information, contact Courtney Boyd at the Center for Student Legal Services at [email protected]
